L-Theanine

Supports relaxed alertness and mental clarity.* L-Theanine — GLPrelief ingredient
What

L-Theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found predominantly in tea leaves (Camellia sinensis). It is one of the most studied natural compounds for promoting a calm, focused mental state without causing drowsiness.

GLPrelief includes L-Theanine in the free-form amino acid — the same form used in the clinical studies that established its cognitive and relaxation benefits. It crosses the blood-brain barrier within 30–60 minutes of ingestion.

Why We Chose It

Managing a new health routine can feel mentally overwhelming. Brain fog, mood fluctuations, and perceived cognitive fatigue are commonly reported by GLP-1 medication users navigating caloric changes, morning fasting windows, and metabolic adaptation.

L-Theanine was selected because it promotes alpha brain-wave activity — the neurological pattern associated with calm, focused attention. Unlike stimulants or sedatives, it supports the mental state between "wired" and "tired" — a relaxed alertness that helps you stay sharp without the jitters.

This is the ingredient in the blend with the strongest dose-to-evidence alignment. The dose used in GLPrelief matches the exact dose used in the most commonly cited clinical studies.

Form & Evidence

L-Theanine is L-Theanine — there is only one supplemental form of this amino acid. The key differentiator is purity (L-isomer vs. DL-racemic mix) and dose. GLPrelief uses pure L-Theanine, not the cheaper DL-Theanine racemic mixture which dilutes the active isomer by half.

Green tea extract Contains caffeine — a GI irritant excluded from GLPrelief's formulation philosophy.
DL-Theanine (racemic) D-isomer not biologically active. Halves the effective dose per milligram.

The Research

L-Theanine's effects are well-characterized in human clinical research. Controlled studies have demonstrated significant increases in alpha brain-wave activity — the neurological signature of relaxed attention — within minutes of ingestion. A 4-week study showed sustained benefits for stress response and cognitive function at the dose range used in GLPrelief. A 3-arm comparative trial found L-Theanine produced effective anxiolysis while preserving full cognitive function.

A 2025 critical narrative review recommended conservative claims, noting the science is supportive but should not be overstated. GLPrelief's compliance-first approach aligns with this recommendation.

No direct studies in GLP-1 medication users have been conducted.
