Ginger Root Extract

Supports stomach comfort.* Ginger Root Extract — GLPrelief ingredient
What

Ginger root extract (Zingiber officinale) is one of the most extensively studied botanicals for digestive comfort. It has been used for centuries across traditional medicine systems and is now supported by a substantial body of modern clinical research.

GLPrelief uses a CO₂ + water extracted ginger root extract, standardized to 5% total gingerols — the bioactive compounds responsible for ginger's soothing properties. This standardization guarantees a consistent, potent dose of active gingerols in every stick pack.

Why We Chose It

Stomach comfort is the #1 concern for GLP-1 medication users. Up to 74% of oral semaglutide users report GI adverse events in clinical trials. When your physician formulates a companion supplement for this population, digestive comfort isn't optional — it's the foundation.

Ginger was selected because its mechanism of action is directly relevant: gingerol compounds interact with 5-HT3 receptors on visceral afferent neurons — the same pathway involved in GLP-1-associated stomach discomfort. This non-competitive antagonism supports normal digestive signaling without disrupting healthy motility.

This is not a decorative inclusion. Ginger root extract is the anchor of the GLPrelief botanical blend.

Form & Standardization

Not all ginger is equal. Raw ginger powder varies wildly in gingerol content (0.5–3%), making consistent dosing impossible. Essential oils contain different compounds entirely (terpenes, not gingerols). Supercritical CO₂ extracts at higher concentrations create solubility issues in drink-mix formats.

GLPrelief's extract uses a CO₂ + water dual-extraction method that preserves the full gingerol and shogaol profile while maintaining water solubility — critical for a powder that dissolves in water. The 5% gingerol standardization is verified by HPLC testing.

Why not these alternatives?
Form
Raw ginger powder Variable 0.5–3% gingerols. Cannot guarantee consistent active dose.
Ginger essential oil Different compounds (terpenes, not gingerols). Not the profile studied for digestive comfort.
High-concentration CO₂ (20%+) Lipophilic — dissolution issues in water-based drink mix.

Stomach comfort. Ginger root extract supports stomach comfort through its interaction with digestive signaling pathways.*

The Research

Ginger's digestive benefits are supported by a substantial evidence base. A systematic review of clinical trials found ginger broadly beneficial across gastrointestinal conditions. A separate 18-study meta-analysis demonstrated positive outcomes for acute symptoms at doses within the range used in GLPrelief. Mechanistic research has identified specific gingerol compounds as non-competitive antagonists at 5-HT3 receptors on visceral neurons — directly relevant to digestive comfort signaling.

No direct studies in GLP-1 medication users have been conducted. GLPrelief's use of ginger is based on ingredient-level evidence and physician clinical judgment, not finished-product clinical trials.
